The Fellow will be affiliated with the interdisciplinary Program in the Humanities, a hub of new initiatives in undergraduate education. The Fellow will teach one course each semester in the Directed Studies program, an integrated set of courses in western literature, philosophy, and historical & political thought. Instructors teaching in the program take turns giving the weekly lecture to the entire program, and meet with their own smaller group of eighteen students twice each week in a seminar setting.

The Institute is searching for a postdoctoral scholar who studies a region in East Asia or the Americas from the disciplines of literature, history, religion, or art history/material culture studies, and whose research involves primary sources (archival, material and/or digital) from both East Asian and American archives. The HistoryMakers seeks to hire a full-time Video Oral History Processor as part of last year of an original three-year grant funded project(2017) in order to make The HistoryMakers, unique, digital video oral history archive accessible to users worldwide. Those hired must have a background in African American, American, women’s, political, social history; and be able to commit to a three year term working as part of a processing team that will process a total of 1700 interviews that average 3-6 hours in length. The person hired must have excellent writing skills. They must also have prior experience as a proofreader/editor and be an expert researcher and writer who can accurately describe in a concise and accurate manner the contents of each videotaped segment. The interviews cover 20th century history interviews across a wide variety of occupations, geographic areas and fields (i.e. STEM, law, art, education, music, etc.).
