8th Grade Latin Teacher | Town School for Boys

San Francisco, CA, US

We are seeking a part-time teacher of Latin. Instruction includes the teaching of two 22-student sections of 8th grade Latin in a rotating, 7-day schedule. Because of the rotating schedule, the candidate must be flexible with his/her schedule, though the entire year’s teaching schedule will be published in late spring. Eighth grade is the second year of a two-year grammar-based Latin I sequence; students also take Spanish in the 5th-8th grades. The teacher will have latitude in his/her approach to teaching Latin and choice of primary text (current curriculum loosely based on Latin for Americans) and should expect to collaborate with the 7th grade Latin teacher in the development of curriculum.  As the rotating part-time schedule allows, the teacher would be asked to attend faculty meetings and serve a lunch/recess duty. Teacher will also be expected to hold extra help sessions during the week or make him/herself available for 1:1 student meetings. Parent-teacher conferences are held twice each year and involve brief meetings with parents.
