The Roots of Contemporary Issues is a history course that helps students make sense of our increasingly complex world by focusing on the deep historical roots of present-day issues in global perspective. Areas of specialty are open, but successful candidates must have graduate training that demonstrates their ability to understand historical problems in transnational, comparative, or global perspective. Candidates should also demonstrate an ability to engage students in discussions on race, gender, globalization, conflict, and/or the environment. Roots of Contemporary Issues postdocs teach a 4/4 load with one preparation, which may vary depending on location.
