The research department seeks a Principal or Senior Research Associate, who could play a leading role on multiple studies involving fieldwork and the rigorous use of qualitative methods. Depending on the skills and qualifications of the successful applicant, projects may include at least two of the following: an ethnographic study of firearms violence among residents in multiple New York City neighborhoods; a randomized controlled trial of a school-based restorative justice intervention for high school students involved in disciplinary incidents; an evaluation of efforts to improve defendant perceptions of fairness in a local criminal court; and a multi-site national evaluation of efforts to improve litigant perceptions of fairness in child support cases. If the successful applicant also brings strong quantitative research skills, participation in projects concerning the use of jail and prison in New York City and elsewhere are possible. While not required, Spanish language skills are also a plus.
