The School of Human Ecology seeks an eminent scholar with experience and expertise in history of textiles and/or history of fashion/costumes within the broader field of material culture studies to join the faculty of the Department of Design Studies. The successful candidate will be eligible for a 5-year renewable appointment as the Lynn and Gary Mecklenburg Chair of Textiles, Material Culture, and Design beginning August 29, 2017. To be eligible, a candidate must hold a Ph.D. in material culture and/or art history, design history, or in a related area. A candidate must demonstrate experience and expertise in history of textiles and/or history of fashion/costumes within the broader field of material culture studies. To be considered for either the full professor rank or associate professor rank, candidates must meet the tenure and professorial rank standards of the UW-Madison Divisional Committee and of the School of Human Ecology.
