Reporting to the CEO and partnering with the Board, senior leadership and staff, the CAO plays a critical role in shaping and implementing the organization’s overall revenue and brand building strategy. In this capacity, the CAO has day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, and managing all annual and major-gift fundraising-related activities; developing new earned income initiatives; leading marketing, branding, and public relations; and helping lead the National Trust to engage a larger, broader and more culturally diverse audience. The CAO helps to foster a culture of revenue accountability within the organization and ensures that systems are in place to effectively secure resources required for its work and to leverage fundraising at and between headquarters, field offices and historic sites in support of the organization’s strategic objectives.
