The Department of English and program in Creative Writing (fiction) at the University of Virginia invites applications from fiction writers of exceptional international stature for the position of the Kapnick Distinguished Writer-in-Residence in either the fall or the spring term of the 2016- 2017, 2017- 2018, and 2018-2019 academic year. The inspiration for this position came from the example of William Faulkner, who was the Balch Writer in Residence at the University from 1956-1958. The compensation for this post will be commensurate with the very highest levels of literary distinction and international prestige.
