The Department of History of the National University of Singapore is seeking to make a tenure-track appointment, during 2017, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will have a completed PhD degree in History, plus a strong research agenda rooted in appropriate fields of interest within the wider field of Modern East Asian History, a proven ability to conduct their research in an East Asian language, and an international profile commensurate with their rank and stage of career. The Department is particularly interested in applicants with research interests and accomplishments in the following subfields of East Asian History: science, technology and society; empire and colonialism; international relations; political history and the history of political economy, especially regarding Japan and/or Korea. A demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to teaching the history of the region, as well as the broader history of Asia, and/or World History, is also important.
