The School for the Environment (SFE) at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks an outstanding academic at the rank of Assistant Professor in Environmental Planning and Ecological Design for research, teaching, and outreach on climate change-related planning and design issues confronting coastal communities especially those within the Greater Boston/New England Region. Position begins 9/1/17. The ideal candidate would approach this work in a comparative manner bringing global best practices to communities and agencies in our region. The selected candidate will provide intellectual and programmatic leadership for SFE’s new undergraduate community development and graduate urban planning programs in the areas of: urban ecology, environmental justice, sustainable development, resiliency planning, ecological design, green infrastructure and disaster management. The chosen candidate will be expected to undertake these activities in a manner that advances SFE’s and UMass Boston’s engaged scholarship initiatives as an urban public serving institution.
