The History Department at Grand Valley State University seeks to hire an assistant professor in public history. Candidates holding the doctorate in history or a related field are preferred, but ABD will be considered with Ph.D. completed by August 2017. We welcome candidates with a broad range of experiences such as public history training, campus and community partnerships, and interest in collaborating with digital humanities initiatives. Applicants are encouraged to address in their cover letter how their areas of specialization will contribute to the department’s history curriculum. Responsibilities include teaching courses in public history and the candidate’s area of specialization, creating and collaborating on public history projects, overseeing internships, and engaging in a sustained program of scholarly activities.
