The Environmental Studies Program and Department of Religious Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), invite applications for a tenure-track, joint faculty position in Religion and Environment (50% in the Environmental Studies Program and 50% in the Religious Studies Department) at the assistant professor level. Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field of the humanities or social sciences, with preference given to scholars doing philosophically informed work that demonstrates historical depth and cultural range. The substantive area of expertise is open, but candidates are preferred whose research interests will complement and/or enhance topical strengths in UCSB’s Environmental Studies Program and Department of Religious Studies. An ability to engage issues of values or ethics as they pertain to environmental concerns is essential.
