The Department of American Ethnic Studies at the University of Washington invites applications for TWO full-time acting assistant professors in American Ethnic Studies starting Autumn Quarter 2016 until Spring Quarter 2017, with the possibility of a second year. Applicants should have a PhD degree, or be an advanced PhD candidate, in ethnic studies, interdisciplinary studies, literature (or English), sociology, or history. Preference will be given to applicants who have extensive research and teaching experience in any or several of the following sub-areas:

Comparative American ethnic literature
Japanese American studies
Asian American and Pacific Islander literature and/or performance arts
Asian American community studies and health
Pacific Northwest regional history of Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders
Asian American and Pacific Islander women
Asian American oral histories
Asian American religious studies
