It is intended that the incumbent teach and do research in General and Comparative Literature. Applicants are expected to show evidence of major research emphasis on at least two literatures and cultures; a focus on English Studies is particularly desirable. Expertise in literary theory and aspects of literary studies beyond the narrower confines of the discipline are highly welcome.
