The Department of Africana Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in African Diaspora Studies to start in August 2017. Special consideration will be given to applicants with demonstrated interest in transnational black experience, migration, community relations, and/or environmental health.
This position will provide instruction African Diaspora, United States history, African American history and African history courses.
Responsibilities include teaching courses and performing administrative functions in a program designed to assist first year students in adjusting to the academic demands of the University of Virginia. The instructor will teach multiple sections of a three-course sequence beginning the summer prior to students’ matriculation and continuing through the fall and spring semester. The administrative duties associated with the position include working closely with the director in program planning and implementation.
